Celebrities conferred with civil awards on Pakistani Day

On March 23, Pakistan Day, President Dr. Arif Alvi presented civil awards to 135 Pakistanis and foreigners in honour of their brilliance and valour in their respective disciplines. Numerous famous people, like the late Qavi Khan and Behroze Sabzwari, were on the list.

Cabinet ministers, ambassadors, and family members of the honorees who attended the awards ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The president distributed the civil awards in 10 categories including Nishan-i-Imtiaz, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Hilal-i-Quaid-Azam, Sitara-i-Shujaat, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Presidential Award for Pride of Performance, Tamgha-i-Shujaata and Tamgha-i-Khidmat.

From old to new…

Ahmed Ali Chagla (art), the late Sufi Ghulam Tabassum (poetry), and the late Muhammad Qavi Khan each received the Nishan-i-Imtiaz from the president. (drama, film). The late Amjad Islam Amjad and Raees Ahmed (arts), among others, received the Hilal-i-Imtiaz prize. (arts).

Additionally, the Sitara-i-Imtiaz award was granted to the late Shama Khalid, Behroze Sabzwari, Tariq Mahmood, Fakhar-e-Alam, and Saghar Siddiqui for their contributions to poetry. (art).

Moreover, Actor Shahroz Sabzwari posted an emotional tribute in honour of his father’s significant victory on Instagram.

“A very proud day for us to celebrate my father receiving this honour from the President of The Islamic Republic of Pakistan. You deserve this father, your family and country are proud of you.”

Furthermore, Riaz Shahid, a late writer and director, also received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz honour. His son, the well-known actor Shaan Shahid, shared the wonderful news on social media.

Pride of Performance

Anjum Shaheen (acting), Taskeen Zafar, Syed Shamoon Hashmi, and late Professor Jahazeb Niaz Khan (art), among many others, received the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance, while Rustam Ali Lone (art), Arif Khan (art), and Nigar Nazar (art) received Tamgha-i-Imtiaz.
