Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan is on Twitter trending currently. On Thursday footage of her getting into a physical fight with PPP MNA Qadir Khan Mandokhail went viral on social media.

The incident occurred when the two appeared on Express News talk show, Kal Tak, hosted by senior journalist Javed Chaudhry. The discussion was about the government’s performance and the load shedding in different parts of the country. Both the politicians started quarreling over the recent Ghotki train incident in Sindh, which causes the lives of 60 people. The quarreling turned into a physical fight.

In response, Firdous Ashiq Awan gave a statement in response to this video which went viral. She said, “I had to take this defensive measure because the MNA Mandokhail was abusing my late father and harassing me ‘off-air.’ She further said, “I didn’t want to take this extreme measure, but he was constantly abusing and threatening me. The video that went viral was selective.”

This is not new in Pakistani politics. Physical fights should never be a part of any TV show. Talk Shows are be called Talk Show for a reason where the guest and the host should maintain the decorum. And surely not give trolls a chance to make memes over them.
