Priyanka Chopra [now Jonas] opens up about her messed up nose surgery in her new memoir. She has reflected upon her initial days and how some significant points in her life were the toughest.

Unfinished by Priyanka Chopra

In her latest memoir, Unfinished she shared that the acting profession has been unforgiving for the women at times. She said, “I felt devastated and hopeless,” soon after she found out that she had developed a polyp in her nasal cavity, a benign growth.

In her book, Chopra shared her rise to fame, which began when she won the beauty pageant, Miss India World, in January 2000 at 17 years old and won the title of Miss World later that year.

Following her pageant success, Chopra Jonas began her acting career in India for various movies. After a decade later, she had a breakthrough in the US when she landed the starring role on the ABC series “Quantico” — which marked the first time a South Asian actor played the lead character on an American network TV show.

Priyanka the Plastic Chopra

After the fallout of the surgery, Priyanka Chopra was called “Plastic Chopra” for a long time as people thought she went under the knife to enhance her facial features. The actress discussed the incident in her recently released memoir. Priyanka Chopra revealed that, “While shaving off the polyp, the doctor also accidentally shaved the bridge of my nose and the bridge collapsed. When it was time to remove the bandages and the condition of my nose was revealed, Mom and I were horrified. My original nose was gone. My face looked completely different. I wasn’t me anymore.” She further wrote, “Every time I looked in the mirror, a stranger looked back at me, and I didn’t think my sense of self or my self-esteem would ever recover from the blow,” she added.

Priyanka chose silence over everything!

Touching on how she lost out on two projects which were supposed to be her first, Chopra said, “As if the physical and emotional pain of the original and subsequent corrective surgeries weren’t enough, this was a terrible blow.”

After the surgery went wrong, she was given the tag ‘Plastic Chopra’ by the Indian media. Priyanka wrote that while she was ‘dared’ to give an explanation for her ‘obviously different nose’, she chose to ‘draw a line’ and chose to stay quiet, and not speak about it publicly.

She wrote in her book, “I decided that there was a line I was going to draw in my life. I am an entertainer. That’s what I’ve signed on to do, and that’s what I love doing. I will say my lines, dance my dance, hit my mark. I’ll do my best to make you laugh, and I’ll do my best to make you cry, but just because I’m a public person doesn’t mean everything about my life has to be public knowledge. I get to choose what I share and when I share it.”

Currently, on the other hand, Priyanka Chopra has a number of projects in the pipeline. She has recently wrapped up “Text For You” in London. Directed by Jim Strouse, the film also stars Sam Heughan, Celine Dion, Russell Tovey, and Omid Djalili. Chopra will also be seen in her co-produced Indian wedding comedy with Mindy Kaling. The actress also has Matrix 4 and a film based on the life of Maa Anand Sheela in her kitty.
