Chernobyl is a 2019 historical dramatized miniseries TV series that revolves around the Chernobyl disaster of 1986 and the cleanup endeavors that followed. The series was created and composed by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck. It features an ensemble cast led by Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgård, Emily Watson, and Paul Ritter. The series was produced by HBO in the United States and Sky UK in the United Kingdom. The series performs the narrative of the April 1986 nuclear plant disaster which occurred in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union. It depicts some of the lesser-known stories of the catastrophe, including the efforts of the firefighters who were the first responders on the scene, volunteers, and teams of miners who dug a critical tunnel under Reactor 4.
