A new twist in the story of no-stock of PS5 and Xbox Series X stock shortages is getting a new pace: President Joe Biden! The recently-elected President of the United States of America is expected to sign an executive order launching an investigation into solving the root issues of the missing stock.

Since the PS5 and Xbox Series X originally went up for pre-request last September, they’ve been difficult to purchase, particularly the previous. Also, this has been, incomplete, due to component shortage from the backend. At the present time, there’s a serious semiconductor shortage. Not exclusively are numerous big organizations contending over the parts, yet the COVID-19 pandemic has eased back the production phase. Also, obviously, this lack is affecting something beyond gaming, and now it’s grabbed the attention of the white house.

According to the Wall Street Journal, it states that “The executive order calls for a 100-day review of supply chains for four areas.” Those include the “semiconductors, used in products from cars to phones,” and of course, the hard-to-find PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The PS5 Stock Completely Sold Out!

Similarly, in November 2020, around Christmas, the gamers received a piece of bad news, that the stock has been completely wiped off from the stores, inventories, and warehouses. CEO Sony Jim Ryan said, “Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold. I’ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product. And now… I’m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand.” Due to pandemic, pre-production phase had a rough patch that caused the process delayed. “We had to do all the manufacturing preparation by camera remotely,” he said. “I mean, just imagine that for a precision device like the PlayStation 5.”

The Cat Food Instead of PS5 From Amazon Drama

And that’s not all, Amazon also apologized to the customers as they received cat foods and foot massagers instead of their PS5 consoles, almost 100s of people lodged complaints and due to the shortage of the consoles, even Amazon couldn’t deliver them. They said they are “Really sorry” for what happened and will compensate by returning their payments back.

Joe Biden’s Investigation For Missing PS5 And Xbox Series X Stock

The investigation is not just looking into the computer chips. National security is also included on the table this time, as the Journal reminds us that ‘neodymium,’ one of the resources in short supply, “is needed for the solid-state lasers used to designate missile targets.”

Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Chris Coons (D-DW) praised the investigation, but are pushing President Biden to push our own companies harder if necessary. Their letter asks that the president “incentivize or, if necessary, require American companies to retain their domestic capacities during this time. Products and services that fuel our economy, contribute to American innovation and enhance our national security. Given the central role of semiconductors, strengthening the U.S. position in semiconductor research, design, and manufacturing is a national priority.”

Hopefully, this will mean that the PS5 and Xbox Series X stock shortages issue is going to end in the near future. Sony’s CEO Jim Ryan also addressed the issue in an interview, promising “relentless” action to “increase production.”
