Metal is a genre that is not understandable to everyone. Or it is even safe to say that this genre doesn’t resonate with everyone. But only a true ‘metalhead’ can feel the pain when someone passes away to another realm. I remember when the rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist Chris Cornell [of Soundgarden] passed on, it hit the industry as it was a suicide. And after that, his best friend Chester Bennington [of Linkinpark] took his life on Cornell’s birthday was one of the biggest shocks industry still thrives to live on with. And now it’s the passing away of Joey Jordison, the founding drummer of Slipknot!

Joey Jordison of Slipknot passes away at 46

In a statement widely reported by US media, his family said Joey Jordison died “peacefully” in his sleep on Monday. Furthermore, “Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow,” said the family.

Moreover, the statement continues, “To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music.” [sic]

Slipknot’s self-titled debut album was certified double platinum in the US with more than two million sales. The Iowa-born drummer, also known as #1, beat Phil Collins and Dave Grohl to be named the greatest drummer of the past 25 years in 2010.

Music Industry pays tribute to Slipknot’s drummer Joey Jordison

Following the news of his death, Slipknot posted a black picture on their social media, moreover Corey Taylor the lead vocalist of Slipknot also posted a black image on his Instagram in solidarity and condolence for the fellow band member.

Furthemore, Serj Tankian of System of a Down wrote, “RIP Joey J-an amazing drummer and a fantastic guy.”

The legendary band Metallica paid tribute to Jordison on their official Facebook page with a photo of him on stage and the caption “R.I.P. brother.”

Ginger Wildheart, founder of The Wildhearts, tweets, “Joey Jordison was better upside down than any other metal drummer sitting normally.”

Anthrax posts, “a great musician and person has left us,” meanwhile Trivium tweeted, “We are saddened by the news of the passing of our dear friend, Joey Jordison.

Jordison also launched other bands Scar the Martyr, Vimic, and was associated with Sinsaenum before his demise. The family will have a private funeral service.
